James Hardie, the global leader in the development of fiber cement building products and related building systems, turned to Merge to completely overhaul their digital presence and create a foundation that would house all technology-based brand communications and platforms.
To begin, we evaluated their 80+ existing web properties and conducted a comprehensive CMS and platform analysis, resulting in the recommendation to move all properties to the Kentico EMS platform.
By looking at their targets, needs and ambitious goals, we continued to find ways to better engage with their diverse audiences of both trade and consumer, from a completely overhauled website to more meaningful communication streams, inspiration-fueling online tools, new product site launches, in-field apps and more.
After thorough evaluation, we determined the Kentico EMS platform was the best fit for James Hardie’s current and anticipated needs. A comprehensive UI and content audit of the existing properties yielded insights to restructuring content in ways that would give users the tools and support to feel confident about their design and style choices, and ultimately move forward with purchase.
The new website experience takes a holistic look at the complete consumer buying journey, and provides fluid workflow paths that enable users to reach critical conversion points with ease. By tapping into what excites and inspires them, we expedite the process, getting users into the sales pipeline and decision phase sooner.
Because the James Hardie product line varies regionally, we implemented geo-targeting to ensure users get relevant product information based on where they live.
James Hardie has always been known for a durable, high-performance product. As we took on more of a consumer focus, it was increasingly important that we also establish them as a leader in design and color. We did this by not just showing product color options, but by presenting the James Hardie color palette through an emotive, lifestyle lens.
The reinvented Home Color Tool enables users to create color palettes from James Hardie’s expertly curated spectrum of colors, while also educating them on architectural and design fundamentals in a visually distinctive and inspiring format. The palettes can be saved and shared socially through the Idea Center, which allows users to curate content as they build their personal information and inspiration library.
The custom-built Field Investigation Report app takes away a once labor-intensive, manual process and gives their in-field inspectors a seamless and efficient means for evaluating and submitting audit reports. As a result, inspectors have a more immediate means of ensuring all jobs completed meet James Hardie’s high standards.
To serve their professional trade audience of contractors, builders and architects, we rearchitected and designed the James Hardie Pros site. This dedicated site provides immediate access to installation information, technical bulletins, specification sheets, safety information and more.
